✦ Synopsis

The title compound, C 7 H 4 Br 2 O, has mirror symmetry perpendicular to the tropone ring, and forms a head-to-head association of two nearly parallel molecules. Intermolecular -, halogen-halogen and C-HÁ Á ÁO interactions are observed in the crystal structure.

The molecule of the title compound, C 12 H 10 Br 2 , displays crystallographic inversion symmetry and is essentially planar. Bond lengths show the typical naphthalene pattern. The crystal packing shows no short HÁ Á ÁBr, BrÁ Á ÁBr or C-HÁ Á Á contacts.
