✦ Synopsis

IndolringsohluU aus N-o-Tolylbenzamidinen; Synthese von 2-Phenylfndol 2-Phenylindol kann u. a. [l], [2], [3] aus Benzoyl-o-toluidin [4] hergestellt werden. Die Ausbildung des Indolringes unter Wasserabspaltung erfolgt dabei relativ schwierig unter An- wendung von Kondensationsmitteln, wie Natriumamid, in geeigneten, hochsiedenden Losungsmitteln, z. B. Diiithylanilin [S]. Wir fanden, dal3 der RingschluB leichter eintritt, wenn man von den entsprechenden Amidinen ausgeht. So liefert N-o-Tolylbenzamidin beim Erhitzen rnit Alkalien schon leichter 2-Phenylindol unter Ammoniakabspaltung. Wird die Amidingruppe durch einen aromatischen Substituenten belastet, so erfolgt der IndoIringschluB noch glatter. Schon beim Erhitzen mit Kaliumhydroxid oder Kaliumalkoholat wird aus N-Phenyl-N'-o-tolylbenzamidin unter Anilinabspaltung 2-Phenylindol gebildet : N-Phenyl-N-o-tolylbenzamidin wurde aus N-o-Tolylbenzimidchlorid durch Umsetzen mit Anilin oder aus Benzoyl-otoluidin, Anilin und Phosphortrichlorid sowie &us Benzanilid, 0-Toluidin und Phosphorpentachlorid erhalten.
