In the title compound, C 19 H 13 NO 5 , the five fused rings are essentially coplanar, while one of the O-Me bonds lies almost perpendicular to that plane. The molecule is stabilized by C-HÁ Á ÁO intermolecular hydrogen bonds, which form zigzag polymeric chains parallel to the b axis.
