In the title compound, C~15~H~18~N~2~O~4~S, there is a very wide C—C—C angle [130.72 (16)°] at the methine C atom linking the two rings. A single C—H...O hydrogen bond links pairs of molecules into dimers around a twofold axis.
In the title complex, [RhCl(C~8~H~12~)(C~24~H~32~N~2~O~6~)], the Rh atom is coordinated by a Cl atom, one C atom of the tetrahydropyrimidine ring and the two double bonds of cyclooctadiene. Each of the tetrahydropyrimidine and cyclooctadiene rings is puckered.
