✦ Synopsis

The title compound, C 13 H 13 N 5 Á1.5H 2 O, was synthesized by the reaction of 2,6-bis(bromomethyl)pyridine with imidazole. The asymmetric unit contains two crystallographically independent 2,6-bis(1H-imidazol-1-ylmethyl)pyridine molecules and three water molecules. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-HÁ Á ÁO and O-HÁ Á ÁN hydrogen-bond interactions.
