In the molecule of the title compound, C 24 H 16 N 6 , one quinoxaline ring system is almost perpendicular to the benzimidazole ring system, while the other quinoxaline ring system is nearly coplanar with the benzimidazole system.

The title compound, C 14 H 12 BrN 2 O + ÁClO 4 À , was synthesized from the parent 2-aminooxazole and acetylacetone and characterized by 1 H NMR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The bromophenyl fragment and the essentially planar ninemembered bicyclic system form a dihedral angle of 10.50 (11)
