The cation, anion and water molecules of the title compound, C 16 H 16 N 4 2+ Á2ClO 4 À Á4H 2 O, are linked by hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network. The cation lies on a center of inversion, which is located at the mid-point of the -CH 2 CH 2bond.
