✦ Synopsis

In the title compound, [Cu(C 17 H 8 O 9 )(C 12 H 8 N 2 ) 2 ]Á2H 2 O, the Cu II cation is hexacoordinated by two carboxylate O atoms from one of the two deprotonated carboxyl groups in the 3,3,4,4-benzophenone tetracarboxylate, and four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthrolines, showing a slightly distorted octahedral geometry. A network of hydrogen bonds links the units into a three-dimensional structure.
