✦ Synopsis
The title compound, C 15 H 18 N 2 O 6 , has two pyrrole-carboxylate groups which show different conformations. It forms tapes via N-HÁ Á ÁO and O-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds. The tapes are connected through pairs of N-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds.

The title salt, C~8~H~20~NO~5~ ^+^·C~7~H~4~NO~4~ ^−^·H~2~O, is composed of a 4-nitrobenzoate anion, a [2-hydroxy-1,1-bis(hydroxymethyl)ethyl]bis(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium (NBHHP) cation and a water molecule. The three units are linked by O—H...O hydrogen bonds.
In the title compound, C 13 H 14 N 2 O 2 S, intermolecular N-HÁ Á ÁO(N) hydrogen bonds link the molecules in the crystal structure into sheets parallel to the bc plane.
