✦ Synopsis
In the title compound, (C 8 H 8 N 4 )[ReCl 6 ]Á2H 2 O, the Re atom occupies an inversion centre and is octahedrally coordinated by chloride anions. The cation also has an inversion centre. Various N-HÁ Á ÁO, O-HÁ Á ÁCl and C-HÁ Á ÁCl interactions help to stabilize the crystal packing.

The title compound, (C 8 H 15 N 3 )[SnCl 6 ]ÁH 2 O, is a salt involving a doubly protonated amine cation and a divalent [SnCl 6 ] 2À anion. The solid-state structure agrees with that found by 1 H NMR and 13 C NMR analyses. The salt has potential for use in the synthesis of organometallic compounds.
