I-Acylindoles are readily obtained by the [4x + 2x1 cycloaddition of l-triisopropylsilyl-trans-2-(2-phenylsulfinylvinyl)pyrrole with electron deficient acetylenes followed by N-desilylation of the cycloadducts with fluoride ion.
