✦ Synopsis

The centrosymmetric title compound, C 16 H 32 N 8 O 4 , crystallizes one half-molecule in the asymmetric unit. Single crystals were grown from water and, even though the compound contains hydrogen-bonding groups, no water molecules of crystallization were found. Two of the four pendant arms form intramolecularly hydrogen bonds to preorganize the compound into a shape similar to that required for ligation. organic papers Acta Cryst. (2005). E61, o3405-o3407

## Abstract The lead(II) coordination properties of the tetrapodal ligand DOTAM [1,4,7,10‐tetrakis(carbamoylmethyl)‐1,4,7,10‐tetraaza‐cyclododecane] have been investigated both in the solid state and in solution in order to ascertain the stereoactivity of the lone pair and to rationalize the struct
