β¦ Synopsis
The 13C NMR characteristics of the polyaminocarboxylate ligands EDTA ~(H0,CCH2)2NCHzCHzN(CH,C0,H),I, DTPA [(H02CCH,)zNCH2CH,N(CHzCOzH)CH,CH2N(CHzN(CHzCOzH)z and NTA [N(CH,C0,H)3] and their Tl(II1) complexes are reported. The pH dependence of the 13C shifts of the ligands is helpful in understanding the 13C coordination chemical shifts, A6, but not the thallium4arbon coupling constants J(20?1, 13C), which vary markedly for no apparent reason. The anion Tl(DTPA-5H)'-contains three non-equivalent coordinated carboxyl functions and a suggestion is made to account for this lower symmetry. 13C NMR chemical shifts were measured in for Γuorocarbonyl compounds. Sulfonic DMSO-d 6 derivatives display 4J(C,F) coupling constants for carbonyl groups which are also obtained from non-sulfonic derivatives when they are recorded in acidic solution.
