✦ Synopsis
I5N NMR spectra
The "N NMR spectra were recorded on a Bruker AM-500 spectrometer (50.684 MHz) equipped with an ASPECT-3000 computer system and INVGATE program at 27 "C in DMSO-8, solution and the chemical shifts were referenced to CH3'5N0, (380 ppm) as the standard.
The spectra of la, 2a, 3a, 3b, 4a, 5a, 6a and 6c were measured in 5-20 M solutions with 250-1000 scans and those of lb, 2b, 2e, 4b, 5b, 9, 6b and 7a in 4-1 M solutions with 8100-10700 scans using a Model 5d, probe.
The spectra of ld, 2d,3d, 4d, 5d, 6d, 7b and 7d
were measured in 0.5-0.1 M solutions with 3300-30000 scans using a Model 104 probe. The spectral width was 25 kHz sampled over 64K data points and the digital resolution was 0.763 Hz per point.

A series of 14 3-substituted 4-oxoquinolones with or without a substituent (methyl, ethyl) in position 1 were prepared. Literature and measured data were used to study the inÑuence of the substituent on the shifts of carbon atoms of these compounds, which are model compounds for antibacterial drugs
Jordan 1,3,5-Tris(5-substituted-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)benzenes were prepared by the dehydration of the corresponding hydrazides. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy.
The 13C NMR spectra 1 7 derivatives of androst-4-ene-3,17-dione were recorded and assigned. Assignments were based on spectral comparison with compounds of similar structure and distortionless enhancement by polarization transfer (DEPT) NMR measurements.
