✦ Synopsis
Abstract
The ^13^C NMR spectra of 18 guaianolides have been measured and the chemical shifts assigned. The compounds investigated include the naturally occurring eremanthin (1), dehydrocostus lactone, eregoyazin, eregoyazidin and other semisynthetic lactones derived from 1. Qualitative analysis of the data suggests that the predominant conformation in almost all compounds so far studied is a distorted chair‐like form.
