In the title compound, [PtI~2~(C~26~H~24~P~2~)]·2CH~2~Cl~2~, the PtI~2~(dppe) [dppe = 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane] molecules possess twofold rotation symmetry. The Pt coordination displays a square-planar arrangement, with the sum of the angles around the Pt atom being 360.01 (2)°. The Pt—I distance is 2.6484 (5) Å. In the crystal structure, intermolecular C—H...I contacts link the PtI~2~(dppe) molecules into rows along the c axis, with a C...I distance of 3.873 (5) Å.

The title compound, [Ag 2 Cl 2 (C 26 H 30 B 10 P 2 ) 2 ]Á2CH 2 Cl 2 , was synthesized by the reaction of 1,2-bis(dipenylphosphino)-1,2dicarba-closo-dodecaborane with AgCl in ethanol. The diphosphino-closo-carborane ligand is coordinated in a bidentate manner to the Ag atom through the two P atoms. T
