Pressure-volume-temperature measurement during the exfoliation of graphite intercalated with bromine showed that exfoliation involved the vaporization of l/8 of the intercalate, which formed aggregates of at least 8 monolayers thick on the average. At the point of completion of the vaporization, one

โฆ Synopsis
The in-plane superlattice and the twinned domain structure were found by single crystal X-ray diffraction to be preserved after exfoliation and collapse, though the graphite planes were slightly bent. The fractional expansion due to exfoliation was comparable for single crystals and HOPG. The degree of hysteresis was less for single crystals.

The isotherm of bromine on pyrolytic graphite was studied at 20ยฐC by stepwise bromination, and several phases of graphite bromide were identified, which have compositions of C,Br, C,\*Br, C16Br and C,,,Br. X-ray studies show that these possess the socalled 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th stage structures resp
Applying the theories for resistivity of the amorphous and granular materials, the temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity of coals, heat treated at different temperatures, has been successfully explained in terms of structural parameters obtained by X-ray measurements.
