✦ Synopsis
In the title compound, C 6 H 6 N 2 O 4 , the planar carboxyl group makes a dihedral angle of 74.61 (2) with the uracil plane. In the crystal structure, intermolecular N-HÁ Á ÁO and O-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds link the molecules into a threedimensional network.

The title compound, C 11 H 10 N 2 O 4 , was synthesized from benzimidazole and chloroacetic acid. In the crystal structure, O-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds lead to the formation of extended one-dimensional chains along the [101] direction.
The Co atom in the title compound, [Co(C 10 H 14 NO 6 )-(C 2 H 8 N 2 )]ÁH 2 O, has an octahedral geometry with tetradentate N,N-bis(carboxymethyl)-l-leucine (l-bcmle) and bidentate ethylenediamine (en) ligands. The complexes and water molecules are linked via N-HÁ Á ÁO and O-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds,
