✦ Synopsis

Several 1 -aminothitzalkanephosphonic acids 2 were synthesized and selectively oxidized to their sulfinyl 3 and sulfonyl 4 dc:rivatives. For the compounds 2, 3, and 4, their dissociation properties were determined potentiometrically.

## Abstract A general procedure for the synthesis of α‐(phenylseleno)sulfinyl and ‐sulfonyl alkenes has been described. 1‐(Phenylseleno)ethenyl sulfoxides were prepared by the __syn__‐addition of in situ‐generated sulfenic acids on to the triple bond of suitably substituted (phenylseleno)acetylenes
