In the title molecule, C~22~H~17~NO, the two approximately planar carbazole and phenyl groups make a dihedral angle of 45.34 (5)°. In the crystal structure, C—H...O hydrogen-bonded dimers are connected by additional C—H...O and C—H...π interactions into chains along the [001] direction.
