✦ Synopsis

The title compound, C 15 H 16 N 2 S, was prepared by the reaction of 3,5-dimethylphenylamine with 1-isothiocyanatobenzene. In the molecule, all bond lengths and angles are within normal ranges. The dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings is 48.77 (1) . The crystal packing is stabilized by van der Waals forces.

The structure of the title compound (35DMPA), C 10 H 13 NO, closely resembles those of N-(3,5-dichlorophenyl)acetamide (35DCPA) and other amides. 35DMPA has two molecules in its asymmetric unit, in contrast to the single molecule observed in the asymmetric unit of 35DCPA. In addition, 35DMPA and 35D
