✦ Synopsis
Diisopropyl 1,l -dichloroalkylphosphonates bearing mrious groups (alkyl, aryl, allyl, benzyl, phenylthiolate, trimethylsilyl) in the a-position were reduced to the corresponding primary I , 1 -dichlorophosphines by the LiAIH,-A~C~, system in diethyl ether. Subsequent dehydrochlorination with tertiary amines in the presence of trapping dipolar compounds (ethyl diazoacetate or n-hexylazide) led to the expected 1,2,4-diazaphospholes or 3H-1,2,3,4-triazaphospholes.

## Abstract A synthetic approach to __meta__‐terphenyls iodides bearing methoxy groups in the 2 and 2′′′ positions has been described. 2,2″‐Dimethoxy‐1,1′:3′,1″‐terphenyl groups have been shown to stabilize diphosphenes in solution. The existence of conformers of the diphosphene **__7__** has also
