Along the plotline of the love story of Scarlett, a daughter of an American plantation owner, the author depicts her fate of frustrations. This novel builds two images that strike root in people's heart: Scarlett, who is indomitable and brave yet selfish and shallow, and Rhett, a shrewd and sophisticated businessman. This is an "elegy for the south" that describes all aspects of the society in American south around the war.)
