Starting from humble origin and rise to top of power, being entrusted with the crown prince, facilitating two emperors to revive the dynasty which had declined in the late years of Emperor Wu, as well as taking measures to reduce military actions and encouraging the people to develop economy, Huo Guang was truly the most meritorious statesman of the Han court, who formed the national spirit of the Han Chinese. With the grace for writing, a deep knowledge of politics, humorous language and wide references to historical materials the book is highly readable.
