《文学术语词典》一书于1957年出版，它用简短明快的文字概述了文学理论、文学史和文学批评方面的关键术语。现在的第7版包含了更多的新词条，其中一些是有关最新的文学批评理论的；所有早期的词条都进行了重新修订，有的进行了彻底重写；各个独立的词条中提到的相关作品也重新扩充了，把新近的作品包含了进来；在原有的“术语索引”的基础上新增了"人名索引"。这本文学词典历经广大师生和专业研究人员的考验，已经成了他们不可替代的必备工具书。
