《周恩來的秘密情感世界》出版後，會有很多人有這樣一個疑問：周恩來在中國當代史是如此重要的歷史人物，在國際上也享有極高的聲譽，對他的研究可以說是汗牛充棟，如果他是位同性戀者，為何這樣多的中外研究者都沒有發現？這個問題，筆者也自問無數次。但在寫作此書的過程中，接觸到各方資料後，我得出這樣一個結論：對於身在中國大陸的研究者來講，周恩來這個秘密並非完全無人知道，但得以長期維持無人捅開，是一個三方合力隱瞞的結果。
