✦ Synopsis
Abstract
ω‐Cycloheptyl‐α‐hydroxyundecanoic acid was isolated in preparative amounts from a new thermoacidophilic Bacillus strain. The new unusual fatty acid, its methyl ester and α‐keto acid methyl ester derivatives were unequivocally determined by ^1^H and ^13^C nuclear magnetic resonance, mass and infrared spectra, and gas chromatography. Gas chromatography on a chiral phase revealed the D‐configuration for ω‐cycloheptyl‐α‐hydroxyundecanoic acid.
