N M R spectra (in nitromethane, TMS as internal standard) of ( 2) include bands at T = 3.5-5.0 (unseparated multiplet due to the ring protons at C-4 and C-5 and the vinyl protons), as well as for (2), R = CH3 (obtained as an oil; stable for only a few days) T = 7.6 (CH3 protons) and for (2), R = C6H5 (m.p. 65-72 "C) T = 1.5-2.5 (broad multiplet due to phenyl protons).
