✦ Synopsis

The title complex, [Yb(C 9 H 12 )(C 26 H 42 N 2 )Cl] or {(2,6-Pr i 2 C 6 H 3 )NC(CH 3 )} 2 CH]( t BuC 5 H 4 )YbCl, exists as a monomeric molecule; the six-membered chelate ring adopts a boat conformation. The Yb atom is six-coordinate and the shape of the molecule approximates to a three-legged piano stool.
