in non-blood-fed Aedes aegypti by injection of the insect steroid hormone ecdysterone. assayed f o r i t s a b i l i t y t o induce ovarian development. Both the amount of v i t e l l i n deposited into ovarian f o l l i c l e s and the dopa decarboxylase a c t i v i t y were monitored. In contrast t o ecdysterone, a-ecdysone was negative with regard t o b o t h parameters.
