Reduction of a Metal-Carbon Triple Bond

Reaction of [n-C5H5(CO),ReCC,H5]+[BCl,]with Et,AIH yieldsdepending on reaction conditionsthe novel secondary carbene complex n-C5H5(CO),ReCHC6H5 ( ) or the o-benzylhydrido conlplex rc-C,H,(CO)ZHReCH2C6H5 (3). The reaction is the first example of a stepwise reduction of a metal-carbon triple bond to a single bond. Die Reaktion kationischer Carbinkomplexe mit Nucleophilen erwies sich als ein weithin anwendbarer Weg zur Synthese von Carbenkomplexen, die sonst nur schwer oder gar nicht dargestellt werden konnten. So gelang beispielsweise die Darstellung von Halogen-und Pseudohalogencarbenkomplexen durch nucleophile Addition am Carbinkohlenstoff 2-4). Durch Umsetzung von [n-C5H,(CO),ReCC6H5]+[BCl4]-(1) 5 , mit Diethylaluminiumhydrid gelang uns nun erstmals die vollstandige schrittweise Reduktion einer MC,,,,,,-Dreifachbindung in einem Carbinkomplex bis zur MC,,,,,-Einfachbindung.
