Die bei der Clemmensen‐Reduktion von 2‐[ω‐Methoxylbutyl]‐thiophanon‐(3) und 2‐Methyl‐thiophanon‐(3) auftretenden dimeren Produkte wurden als Di‐[ω‐methoxy‐γ‐oxo‐n‐octyl]‐sulfid bzw. als Di‐[γ‐oxo‐n‐pentyl]‐sulfid erkannt.

Die Synthese von Di‐[γ‐oxo‐n‐pentyl]‐sulfid aus β‐Thiodipropionsäure wird beschrieben.
