Abstract

The synthesis and properties of 6‐Desoxy‐D‐glucosamine are described.

The more important steps of the synthesis are: Tosylation of the primary
alcoholgroup of a suitable derivative of D‐glucosamine with succeeding acetylation, the replacement of the tosylgroup by jodine and the catalytical cleavage
of the halide with RANEY nickel in the presence of triethylamine.
