On the Formation of Radicals during the Photolysis of 4‐N, N‐Dialkylaminobenzene Diazonium Tetraphenylborates

The photolysis of 4‐N, N‐dialkylaminobenzene diazonium tetraphenylborates 1–11 in dichloromethane proceeds by an electron transfer between ion pairs forming radicals as primary products. Using e.s.r. spin trapping technique arenediazo, phenyl, 4‐N, N‐dialkylamino phenyl and substituted cyclohexadienyl radicals could be detected.
