✦ Synopsis

Abstract

  1. By incubating the glutamine synthesizing enzyme with AD^32^P and ATP the latter became radioactive by exchange with AD^32^P. Our enzyme preparation still contained some myokinase which it was impossible to remove. Using suitable inhibitors (mercurochrome, 0,1‐m. CaCl~2~) we show that the exchange is only partly due to myokinase. There exists a second reaction, catalysed by glutamine synthese, which may be explained by phosphorylation of the enzyme, thus:
