Abstract
- Uric acid was isolated from larvae of Drosophda melanogaster to which glucose‐[1‐^14^C] and glu∼ose‐[6‐^14^C] had been fed. The specific activity of the atoms 2 and 8 of the purine skeleton was considerably higher after feeding glucose‐ [6–14C] than after glucose‐ [1‐^14^C]. The activated formate used in building the purine ring probably derives from the C 3 of glyceric acid (glycerate → hydroxypyruvate → serine).

## Abstract Mit Hilfe von l4C‐markierter Essigsäure wird festgestellt, dass bei der Riosynthese yon β‐Carotin bei Mueor hiemalis __Wehmer__ das C‐Atom 3 aus der Carboxylgruppe der Essigsaure stammt, wiihrend die C‐Atome 4 und 6 Ton der Methylgruppe der Essigsäure geliefert werden.
