Abstract

Retention chromatographic analysis of carboxylic acids and of hydroxy carboxylic acids was studied. Retention depends on the solubility of the formed metal salts rather than on complex formation.

## Abstract The behaviour of Cu^2+^, Co^2+^, Ni^2+^, Pb^2+^ and UO~2~^2+^ ions in paper chromatography with solvents containing leucine aa a complexing agent has been studied. Ninhydrine was used as a spraying reagent. Retention on the amino acid front was found in some cases.
