✦ Synopsis
Benzoyl chloride and AlC1~3~ give an addition compound with a dative oxygenaluminium bond. The FRIEDEL‐CRAFTS synthesis of benzophenone from benzoyl chloride and benzene in the presence of Al^36^C1~3~ is shown by the authors to give rise to a statistical repartition of the radioactive chlorine between the HC1 evolved and the addition compound of benzophenone and AlCl~3~.
