The effect of iodoacetate on function and metabolism of the perfused rabbit heart suggests that the ATP/creatinephosphate system in the compartment of the contractile fibres is regenerated by glycogenolysis and the energy for the resynthesis of glycogen is provided by the aerobic mitochondrial metabolism.
