Kinetics of the Interaction of n‐Tridecane with the Monomer of Dinitrogen Tetraoxide

The kinetics of the interaction of n‐tridecane with the monomer of dinitrogen tetraoxide were studied by i.r.‐spectroscopy. The spectral characteristics of the reaction mixture prove the formation of nitrocompounds (NC) and nitrates (N) already in the first reaction minutes, and oxidation products (OP) as secondary products of the nitrogen‐containing compounds. The rate of formation of these compounds was determined at different temperatures. The activation energy was found to be 63.8 kJ/mol for the formation of N, 63.9 kJ/mol for NC, and 23.8 kJ/mol for OP.
