✦ Synopsis
This paper is a report about 30 aases of pseudarthrosis of the humerus, treated by autoplastic bone gruft, stabilization by medullary pins, osteosynthesis and eombined methods with ~utoplastic borte graft material.
Corresponding to the different operative methods the postoperative fixation and physical treatment are also very variable and of different duration. Based on these analysis it can be stated that pseudarthrosis of the humerus is generally caused by insufficient first treatment of the fracture, but can be treated successfully by adequate methods of operation, by strict and exact fixation and corresponding physical treatment. In 2 cases a second and third operation were necessary. In one of these eases an insufficient fixation was responsible, in the seeond case no exact cause for the persistance of the pseudarthrosis after the first operation could be found, so that a third operation was necessary, leading finally to consolidation.
The postexaminations showed restriction of the articulation of the shoulder and elbow joints. These objective restrictions of articulation were rarely accompanied by subjective complaints. This is underlined by the fact, that only in one case a rent was granted and that in another case a reeducation was necessary.
