Abstract
The tendency of riboflavine to form metal chelates has been thoroughly investigated. Comparison of reactivity towards Cu^2+^ in solution with model compounds of different types and analysis of the insoluble complexes formed leads to the conclusion that riboflavine forms only weak complexes with a stability constant of log k~1~ < 4. The possible chelation mechanisms are discussed.
