✦ Synopsis

Isavel died, so why isn’t she dead? That question burns brightest as her old life turns to ash in the heat of a war she doesn’t understand. Lost in a storm and saddled with powers and expectations she doesn’t know how to handle, all she has left is faith that her gods know what they’re doing. By following their will, perhaps she can find purpose - and ultimately, peace.
But peace is not for everyone. In these same dark days, Ada is exiled for heresy against the dogma of her people. She decides the world needs to change, she thinks she’s the one to do it, and to her surprise, she is living at a time of more wondrous and terrible change than she could have possibly imagined.
These two young women must navigate a long-forgotten world that is being ground to dust by time and the growing wilderness, each only slowly becoming aware of the other’s existence. They will both have the chance to light a fire to change the world - but first, they must become the people they will need to be.
