✦ Synopsis
A reproducible procedure for the synthesis of the new zeolite SUZ-4 is described. Na+ cations are not required but they are detrimental for the synthesis, as they favor the competitive co-crystallization of mordenite. The results imply that quinuclidine is not incorporated into the zeolite when used and is not necessary for the crystallization of SUZ-4. Avoiding Na+ cations, increasing the concentration of K+ and eliminating the expensive quinuclidine additive afford a convenient and reproducible way for the crystallization of SUZ-4. The physicochemical characterization of this new zeolitic phase and its catalytic properties for the skeletal isomerization of n-butenes are reported.
