The thermal decomposition of tetramethyl-1,2-dioxetsnc (RID) sorbed into zeolite Y containing Eu3+ ions and 2,2'-bipyridine (samples abbreviated as ZYEBT) has been investigated. Decompoeition of RID yields, by ener y tranefer processes, the Eu3' ion.
