## Abstract The nonlinear optical properties of a functionalized poly(thiophene azine), namely, poly(3,4‐didodecylthiophene azine), PAZ, at the optical telecommunication wavelength of 1550 nm are investigated by means of the closed‐aperture __z__‐scan technique in both thin films and solutions. The third-order optical nonlinearity was measured in bismuth-based glasses by Z-scan technique using femto-second laser pulses. Re(v (3) ) = 4.9 • 10 À11 esu at 748 nm was obtained in the glass containing 65.5 mol% of Bi 2 O 3 . Although, the wavelength dependence of Re(v ( 3) ) shows resonant effec
