✦ Synopsis
In this paper the issue of introducing teachers to technology is examined with attention to the assumptions that underlie models of inservice teacher training. An alternative approach to such training is proposed. It is based on different assumptions about teachers, learning and educational change. It differs also in its attention to the personal perceptions of individual teachers as they learn about the new technology and introduce it into their teaching, and to the impact of the 'ideological context' in which they do this work. Experiences of five teachers are described and the impact of the ideologies of the administrators, the reseachers and each individual teacher on these experiences are examined.
