Abstract
Yellow chromate conversion coatings on zinc have been investigated by electrochemical techniques such as emf measurements, currentβpotential characteristics and polarisation methods. A polarisation technique provides a rapid method for judging the corrosion protection offered by a conversion coating.
Good correspondence with the salt spray test was found.

Chromate conversion layers of a thickness ranging from 20 to 250 nm on Al-alloys are characterized by EIS in 0.1 M Na,SO, and optical measurements. A model is derived from these data which describes the corrosion mechanism of these samples. The main components of the equivalent circuit can be attrib
