โฆ Synopsis
The emission cross-section for the 2 F 5/2 -2 F 7/2 transition of Yb 3ฯฉ has been determined from absorption and emission measurements of phosphate glasses at room temperature. By systematic variations in the spectroscopic properties with glass composition, the glass composition with emission cross-section more than 1.0 pm 2 and fluorescence lifetime longer than 2.00 ms is obtained which has advantage over some laser glasses reported in published papers.
