✦ Synopsis

En 1979, una fiesta de compañeros de un prestigioso instituto de Santa Teresa, regada con mucho alcohol y cuyo ambiente fue tensándose, terminó, trágicamente, con el asesinato de una joven; después del juicio, dos de los adolescentes entraron en prisión, pero un tercero, el cabecilla y quizá instigador del crimen, huyó. Diez años después, en 1989, cuando sale de la cárcel uno de los condenados, llamado Fritz McCabe, empiezan a aflorar otros asuntos turbios relacionados con el pasado de esos adolescentes, y Fritz recibe una amenaza de chantaje. La adinerada familia de éste contrata entonces a Kinsey Millhone para que les ayude a descubrir al chantajista.
